Anne Heche is in "extreme critical condition" and is in a coma following she crashed her car on the streets of Los Angeles on Friday.

"At this time Anne is in extreme critical condition," Heche's spokesperson said in a statement released on Monday.

"She has suffered a major lung injury that needs mechanical ventilation as well as burns that require surgery.

The patient is in a state of coma, and hasn't regained consciousness immediately following the accident."

According to Deadline that 59 firefighters were summoned on the scene to tackle the fire that resulted from the accident.
